Birds of Passage is the brainchild of Henry Beylen, longtime wine director of Gjelina restaurant in Venice, CA. His goal is to make delicious and refreshing natural wines from organically farmed vineyards in Santa Barbara County. The wines are made with the assistance of Peter Hunken and Amy Christine MW at their winery Holus Bolus in Lompoc, CA.

Practices: Organic

Grapes: Gamay Noir

Region: Santa Ynez Valley, CA

Vinification: The Gamay Noir is sourced from Savannah Oaks vineyard. 100% de-stemmed, fermented in open-top stainless steel for 18 days. Aged in neutral French oak for 6 months. Unfined/Unfiltered.

Sulfites: low addition at bottling

Total Production: 75 cases

Tasting Notes: This is a Gamay that has dusty spice and juicy, black plum fruit flavors. With alcohol of just 11% this wine can be chilled slightly and consumed easily!
